Introduction to "Explore Yercaud"

For those of you who love exploring new places here is a blog featuring an unexplored, truly mystical hill-station in south India named Yercaud.

This place derives its name from the lake located in its center and forest around, that together make up as "Lake Forest" or "Yercaud" when pronounced in Tamil, the local language. Now this station is location in southern India at 5000 ft above sea level. Though the hills are not as high as the great Himalayas but still high enough to give you a thrilling, chilling and romantic experience.

If you are planning your trip to Yercaud by road , you will find my blog helpful. My motivation of writing this blog comes from the fact that I could not find such an information so that I could be better prepared in planning my trip.

I will start the journey all by road from Chennai to Yercaud via Pondicherry, Cuddalore and onward journey from Yercaud to Chennai via Vellore.
The journey does not consider shortest distance from Chennai to Yercaud and return as my intent was to cover maximum number of cities on the way. So if you are planning your trip to Yercaud, I hope my blog will help you in planning your trip and making full use of your limited time. By the way I planned the trip for 2 nights and 3 days but I will be mentioning the spots that you can plan to see by extending your travel beyond 2 nights.

The text you see in blue font and underlined in this blog is my tip to you to help you plan for trip accordingly.

Here is an overall map that we will be covering.

O' before I start let me tell you about myself. Iam a punjabi by nature and love to see new places. I specially love south India for the simplicity and cultural beauty it is still able to maintain. On this trip I was accompanied with my beautiful wife, 3 yr old daughter and brother in law. I will be posting my photographs occasionally (and I believe you will be tempted to compliment .. Lol ... :).)

Lastly if you are a traveler, like me, who loves being on road and experience the nature from the ground, eat local savories, experience the countryside then come on board with me to this journey.
